GS1 Picture It! is an easy-to-use app for taking pictures of products and uploading them directly to the local Activate service of a GS1 Member Organisation, who can then upload the pictures to the Global GS1 Registry Platform.

Front picture and photo that includes the barcode are mandatory. In addition to capturing the images, the app also features advanced editing functionalities such as background removal, cropping and tilting. With a simple step, the photos can be uploaded to the local GS1 Activate solution. 

The backend of GS1 Picture It! consists of a series of APIs that communicate with the local Activate solution. There is a temporary database to store the images while transferring them but on the central (in Europe based) servers, no personal data is stored. All company and user data is managed by the MO.

The app is available in the App Store for Apple phones and on Google Play for Android phones. To operate the application, the user must be added to the local Activate solution, where a personal and unique QR code is created to identify the user.
