The European Commission has published its Implementing Decision on harmonised standards for Digital Product Passports, in support of the Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR). The decision was published in the Official Journal of the European Union (OJEU) this morning.
Six standards are included in this publication. Being cited in the OJEU as harmonised standards means they are recognised in their entirety and give a presumption of conformity with the relevant requirements of the ESPR.
This is a major milestone for GS1 in Europe and our community, confirming the role of standards as the technical foundation for the Digital Product Passport across the EU
